    Yo

Saturday night for old times sake, I went to Metro 53 after work. I usually hit 8th Avenue after work,
but it was good to get back over to 2nd Avenue to remind me of how life was when I worked normal
human hours.
Metro 53 was its usual hopping self the other night, but I'm getting too old for that place. It's a great
place if your young single and good looking, of which I am none of the above. Being in Rockaway on
Thursday and Friday, albeit for James and Timmy's grandmother's wake, gave me a hankering for Metro
53.

Scott Peterson GUILTY

Last year, I put Scott Peterson number 2 on my Nerds of the Herd list, while putting no good
unpatriotic ho Toni Smith number 1. Folks wondered how I could put a suspected murderer below
someone who was just an idiot. In fact there were thousands of people I could have put higher, people
who kill every day. The only reason I put Peterson on the list was because not only did he kill his wife
and unborn son, he had his case broadcast all over the country, if not the world. How many other
murders don't even make the papers? What made this one newsworthy ?
You would think that being in the media, I would have figured it out, and in some ways I have. The
whole mistress angle, plus the fact that he had a whole team out there looking for her, and he sort of
brought attention to himself but they weren't rich or famous, he was a fertilizer salesman and she was a
substitute teacher.
Look I'm not trying to minimize her death, or make light of it. Whether you are rich or poor, black or
white, murder is murder. I just can't figure out why Scott and Laci Peterson are national newsworthy, and
the guy who allegedly killed his wife, then yelled at the cops that they woke him up when they came to
arrest him in Brooklyn (a story I covered 3 weeks ago) was not.

There are a couple of deaths I will make fun of though.....

"So we sailed to Palestine to see Arafat. I said Yasser, he said Yessir. I said Yasser he said STOP IT"

Jon Lovitz as Tommy Flinagan from Saturday Night Live (1988)
I have very little knowledge or historical perspective about Arafat. I always thought his name was
funny, not one that should be wasted on a terrorist. Here's the way I look at him. He was a thug for most
of his life who in his later years tried to broker peace with Israel. The Israelis blamed him for the initiating
the new hostilities against Israel in 2000. I think what happened was that he lost control of the
Palestinians to hard core terrorists groups that he was powerless to stop. I don't think he was giving the
orders for the suicide bombings, but couldn't do anything to stop them either.
People are saying that with his death, peace in the Middle East is possible. Hardly. To me, the only
way that you can achieve peace there is to have the Israelis and Palestinians who are serious about
peace team up and destroy those who just want to wipe each other out. That would mean Israeli vs.
Israeli and Palestinian vs. Palestinian. That will never happen.

Weekly Mail would also like to extend its condolences to the Bastard family on the death of Ol' Dirty,
who left us way too soon at age 35 Saturday afternoon.

NFL 2004

The Jets looked great in the first half, then went to the toilet in the second half and lost to the
Baltimore Ravens. I love Herman Edwards, but his skills at managing the clock are awful and Paul
Hackett the offensive coordinator needs to go. You read it here first, the Jets are not making the
playoffs. Its obvious they are not as good as their early record indicated. I see an 8-8 or at best a 9-7
record in their future.  7-9 wouldn't shock me either.
While I always pull for the Steelers, (except when they play the Jets) I thought for sure they would lose
Sunday. They were playing the Browns in Cleveland the same week Ben Rothlesberger appeared on the
cover of Sports Illustrated. Plus, after knocking off the Patriots and Eagles, I thought for sure they
would suffer a letdown. Not this week.
My only advice for the Giants is that they keep Eli Manning on the bench until they get an offensive
line. There's no sense in sending him in there to get killed by the opposing teams linebackers. Let Kurt
Warner get killed back there. He's made his money and Lord knows since he's married to that psycho
wife of his, he's used to getting his a$$ whupped.

I think that's it for this week. I missed JR's birthday last week (Thursday), so a Happy belated to him. If I
missed anyone else's please let me know.

Everyone else, have a great week.
