Yo Wassup
Thursday night, I went to the Metro 53 Leukemia Fund raiser with Patti-Ann. JR helped organize it and it
was lots of fun. I saw Timmy Tubbs for the first time since the legendary Wedding in Maine.
I also saw Amy and Ashley JR's two galpals who took 7th place in Weekly Mail's Women of the Year.
Ashley had told me that her brother worked in publishing and would write short stories and e-mail them
around. That's how he got his break. So I had to tell her about my big break. I met her and her boyfriend,
who probably thinks I'm a complete nutjob. But he's a great guy too.
I didn't get to talk to Amy that much, which was probably a good thing because I was smashed. Since
I've been working on the weekends, my booze consumption has gone down. It's kind of hard to get your
freak on when you start at 2 AM. But Thursday night I let it rip, and I paid the price on Friday morning.
Terrorist Bombings
I don't know much about this Spanish terrorist organization that the Spanish government says planted
bombs on those trains Thursday morning, (the ETA) but I can tell you this. I'd bet my bottom dollar that
Al-Qaeda planted those bombs.
According to Spanish officials, the ETA usually calls in their bomb locations right before they
detonate (a tactic used by the IRA). Whoever planted these bombs didn't offer any warnings. Plus the
fact that it was a bunch of bombs exploding one after the other to maximize damage, that's another Al-
Qaeda trick.
Sure enough, a tape was found Saturday, the contents of which is reported to be Al-Qaeda claiming
responsibility. The Spanish government's insistence that this was ETA, may have cost it's ruling party the
election on Sunday. The Spanish people were against the war in Iraq and Al-Qaeda said that the bombing
was in retaliation for the Spanish government's support for the war. I don't know if I believe that, but in
any case the opposition party won on Sunday.
In a spooky coincidence, the attacks in Madrid occurred on March 11. 2 1/2 years after 9/11 and even
more disturbing exactly 911 days after 911.
At the risk of sounding like a low rent company shill, where does the Daily News get off saying that
the Post's front page picture in last Sunday's paper will glorify suicide? Do you really think someone is
going to look at that picture and say "gee, I never thought about doing that. That looks like FUN" Anyone
who has decided to off themselves thought about it long before the Post ran that picture. Next thing you
know the News is going to say the Post promised these jumpers 72 virgins when they get to the other
side.
I had to go up to the Phelam Bay Parkway subway station Saturday night to investigate a bomb scare,
ends up it was nothing and I didn't even get a story out of it. :O( Oh well, at least I'll get reporters pay for
it.
I hope you all enjoy St. Paddy's day. I unfortunately will be working that day and the next two days at
7AM, so chances are I won't be joining up for any cocktails.
THIS JUST IN- Our good friend Emily Cody will be working the phones tonight on a PBS pledge drive
(ala Joey Tribiani from Friends) Tune in tonight between 8PM and 10PM. I hear that when one of the
operators are particularly beautiful, they tend to give them alot of face time. So we should see alot of
her. Good luck Em!
Everyone Else Have a Great Week
