2003 Women of the Year

2003 Woman of the Year    Mary C. Keaveney

2) Patti-Ann Fitzsimmons
3) Mary McGarvey Depuy
4) Kerry Eschewie
5) Emma Carpenter
6)  Trish and Siobhan
7) Amy, Ashley and Jenny

Mary gets the win this year because well, there were lots of tough times this year, but most the good
times I had somehow involved MC Hammer. Whether it was a night in the city (which she doesn't really
enjoy) or guest bartending on my birthday or throwing one of her legendary parties, or even just a
Sunday on the beach dreading our 30th birthdays, Mary was on top of her game. She always says to me
"I'll take care of ya kid" and this year she sure did.

And so did Patti-Ann, as usual. Consistently on the lookout for a good time, thanks to her we had some
real good ones. Especially at the house in Long Beach. Easily one of the kindest hearted people in the
world, Patti-Ann is a perenial all-star.

It would be easy to say that Mary McGarvey DePuy is my main confidant because she lives just around
the corner, but it has more to do with her common sense and intellgence that it does to her convenient
location. She has the wisdom that comes with motherhood, yet is still young and hip enough to know the
real deal.
Up until last year, it seemed like the only time I ever saw Kerry was at Ellen Hanna's house on 130th
Street. It was a shame because she was always very nice. It wasn't until a couple of booze cruises and
nights on the town, that I knew how funny and smart she is. This year she shared the house in Long
Beach and didn't mind me freeloading off of her all summer. Patti-Ann's been my friend for almost 20
years, she knows what she's getting with me. Kerry doesn't seem to mind. Thanks for everything. You
are a catch.

I only hung out with Emma a couple of times, but she gained her spot in the top 5 on one great night last
winter. Actually it was over the course of two nights. To review real quick, at Mad River after the
infamous scavenger hunt, two losers got into a fight on the dance floor. I managed to get Emma out of
the way. She thanked me by telling her friends that I "saved her life" These two bozo's couldn't hurt a fly
but a couple of weeks later two of Emma's friends came up to me and said "You saved Emma's life,
you're the man" In a year where things got rough,  nights like that got me through.

Trish and Siobhan- The first time I saw Trish was at Mary's 29th birthday. We were out at Rory's and I
over heard Mary talking to this very attractive blond girl. Like an idiot I walked over and started hitting on
her. She didn't think it was very funny, and it took till I met her at Mary and Sheila's before I figured out
why. She's more mature than she looks, and although she loves hitting the bars, she doesn't touch a
drop of booze. That takes disipline. You'd much rather have her in your corner than not, believe me.
Siobhan is her partner in crime. Because of their dynamite good looks guys are constantly hitting on
them. I've learned what not to say to a woman more from hanging out with them then I would anywhere
else.

Amy, Ashley and Jenny- JR's college friends whom I met at Metro 53 in July. Turned Happy Hour into an
all-nighter.

***
Sheila- Is still insisting that we are each others back-up plan if we need a spouse in our alter years. This
strong independent and awesome girl isn't going to need anyone. Either she is going to find Mr. Right,
or he will find her.

Nisha- Forget about the fact that she is supermodel beautiful, and musically gifted, Nisha now works in
the U.S Attorney's office, where the creme of the crop works. This is what us guys refer to as the
complete package. Beauty and brains, with kindness on top of all that.

Danielle- Has turned one of my many aliases (Billy G) into a rallying cry. Another knockout whose also
brilliantly talented.

McGrath- I can probably count on one hand the number of times Mary and I got to hang out this year.
Busy schdules and growing relationships made it difficult. But you want a friend who will be in your
corner no matter what? There is nobody better than her. Nobody.

Joann- Except maybe Jo. While McGrath is the shoulder to cry on, Joann is the one to tell you how to fix
it. Direct without being bossy, right without being righteous. And someone whose with you through thick
or thin, win or lose.

Lizzie- How someone this good looking and this much fun is still single is beyond me. The zinging one
liners can sometimes hurt, but also not afraid to tell you how great you are either. Well Lizzie as far as
we're concerned, you're great too.

Michelle Cartier- This French/Ecudorian beauty is pals with Joann. Met her last year at Patti-Ann's
birthday, and have had some good party times with her. Will make some lucky guy very happy, probably
sooner than later.

Maggie- Aidan and Maggie Jr. are as cute as they come.

Those who got married

Nancy Marrone- Woodsy's sister May 31st- the wedding with the best cocktail hour.

Kelly Tubridy- Timmy's wife July 3rd- One of the nicest weddings ever, and definitely the biggest. I
needed a week in detox to get over that one, and I didn't even make it out for 2 of the 4 days.

Lisa Fitsimmons- Patti-Ann and Caroline have a sister in law just as crazy as they are.

Trish Ludwig- Last year's W.o.t.Y tied the knot with the Ace in Maine on September 6. As
Mary McGarvey DePuy put it "It was like a grown-up sleepaway camp"

Kim Asnip- 1998 W.o.t.Y and former co-worker October 12. Cool ceremony and awesome reception.
Double chocolate cake for dessert.

Those who are expecting in 2004

Maureen- Ray's wife. February/March 2004. If he or she is as cute as big brother Kevin, that's going to be
a fun house to visit.

Stacy Tubridy- February 2004- Talk about aunt's and uncles, Timmy gets another nephew/neice real soon.

Honorable Mention- Nancy- June 2004- Lucky kid's going to have at least 3 awesome cousins and at
least three awesome uncles    Especially Uncle Kevin

Those getting married

Anne- May 2004? Former co-worker and brilliant singer getting hitched in the spring.

Those starting new jobs

Kim- Left Bronx D.A's office to work with Nisha. In addition to her legal skills, hope her TV trivia skills
come in handy.

Mathis- Nobody makes me laugh more than the Captain, who started working at Wachovia this year.

Michelle Holcroft- I'm not exactly sure what your new job is (sorry) but just remember we're all pulling for
you. Good Luck!

Amy- Started teaching at a new school in September. To quote Van Halen: A new set of kids who will be
"Hot for Teacher"

Those named Melissa

Melissa from the Bronx DA's office- Hanging out once a year is not nearly enough.

Melissa from Bayside- For taking me to Sullivan's and trying to find me a woman there. (Some tasks are
just impossible) Also was in on Long Beach House (See Kerry and Patti-Ann)
Melissa- (Danielle's roommate) Throws a great party. Always a great time with her and the rest of the
nurses.

Those who found boyfriends and now we never see them

Caroline- Gets alot of abuse from Weekly Mail, but giver her props, she's said she was going to quit
cold turkey and she did.

Emily- Currently vacationing in Austrailia with Billy Madden. Now has enough frequent flier miles to travel
to the moon and back. Not a more humble and charitable girl anywhere.

And finally: Those who I didn't see not ONCE this year
Zaharah: Normally that would disqualify you from the list, but because we love you, you made it.

CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL AND THANKS FOR ANOTHER GREAT YEAR!
