Weekly Mail's response to Daily News Keep em/Dump em poll. With Explainations
My vote is indicated along with what the poll results were. The explainations are mine.
Aaron Heilman
If you were the Mets GM what would you do with Aaron Heilman? Dump 84-16 One of the symbols of the heartless Mets of 2007-2008. Has done nothing but cause misery here since the end of 2006.
Carlos Beltran
If you were the Mets GM what would you do with Carlos Beltran? Dump 13-87 Very talented, but way overpaid for what he ultimately delivers. I must be missing where he hits in the clutch. Should be able to bring back value in a trade.
Carlos Delgado
If you were the Mets GM what would you do with Carlos Delgado? Dump 27-73. Ace says he either went back on steroids or sold his soul to the devil. Either way, we’d be fools to expect him to have this kind of year next year. Time to let a young-un play here.
Damion Easley
If you were the Mets GM what would you do with Damion Easley? Keep 54-46. I’d keep him as a role player off the bench. He should not be the starting 2nd baseman.
Daniel Murphy
If you were the Mets GM what would you do with Daniel Murphy? Keep 88-12. Not sure he’s going to hit .350 every year, but he’s worth giving a shot as an everyday player.
David Wright
If you were the Mets GM what would you do with David Wright? Keep 89-11 I’ve seen the RISP and late inning numbers and yes they are not good. But he’s 25 which means he has time to improve, and he makes reasonable money. I’d have to be bowle d over with an offer.
Duaner Sanchez
If you were the Mets GM what would you do with Duaner Sanchez? Dump 76-24. The bullpen needs to be fumigated. Every one of them.
GM Omar Minaya
If you were the Mets what would you do with Omar Minaya? Dump 58-42 It’s a James Dolan like disgrace that he got an extension. He should have been shown the door.
Jerry Manuel
If you were the Mets GM what would you do with Jerry Manuel? Dump 25-75. He turned the team around, but didn’t get them to the finish line. We need someone with some real fire. Had some nerve asking for more money
Joe Smith
If you were the Mets GM what would you do with Joe Smith? Dump 27-73. He didn’t do a half bad job, but I want no remnants of that bullpen left.
John Maine
If you were the Mets GM what would you do with John Maine? Keep 90-10. Needs to stay healthy and more consistent, but not worth dumping.
Jose Reyes
If you were the Mets GM what would you do with Jose Reyes? Keep 84-16. He’s a .300 hitter with some pop who steals 60 bases and scores 100 runs. But I wouldn’t slam down the phone if someone wanted to talk trade. Like Wright, has a good contract.
Luis Ayala
If you were the Mets GM what would you do with Luis Ayala? Dump 68-32. Considering he was like 1-10 when they got him, he didn’t do a horrible job. But not horrible is not an option for the Mets closer.
Luis Castillo
If you were the Mets GM what would you do with Luis Castillo? 94-6. Omar should have been canned just for this contract.
Mike Pelfrey
If you were the Mets GM what would you do with Mike Pelfrey? Keep 92-8. One of a very few who exceeded expectations this year. Should be a solid building block
Nick Evans
If you were the Mets GM what would you do with Nick Evans? 71-29. I don’t think he’s going to be great, but I’d like to find out one way or another.
Oliver Perez
If you were the Mets GM what would you do with Oliver Perez? Dump 49-51. Very simple: Offer him a 3 year 15 million dollar contract right now. If he signs it, great if not, let him go. Too inconsistent to trust.
Pedro Feliciano

Pedro Martinez
If you were the Mets GM what would you do with Pedro Martinez Dump 81-19. I love the energy6 and enthusiasm, but at the end of the day, this was a colossal bust. For $54 million, they got one good year.
Ryan Church
If you were the Mets GM what would you do with Ryan Church? Dump 78-22. Was great in the beginning, hurt for the middle and a bust at the end. I'd see hwt he brings back in a trade.
Scott Schoeneweis
